HALIMA – HOW TO STAY STRONG

Participative Fiction / 2024

This film is centred around a woman affected by GFM (genital female mutilation).

It explores topics like everyday racism, migration and resilience.

Halima is a pioneering work participative filmmaking: Five remarkable women from Somalia, none of whom had previous filmmaking experience, co-wrote the script based on their personal experiences. They joined our all-female crew, acted, and supported us shaping this film from pre-to post-production.

The story of Halima is told in the finished film as much as it is told in its creation. Inclusive, empowering, and full of hope.
